Informational Video
The aim of this project was to raise awareness about the housing crisis in Washington State through an informational video. I used Adobe After Effects to animate a series of graphs and other motion graphics to help convey this message.
Process
After conducting research on the topic, I designed infographics and created storyboards for the animation. First, I sketched out rough layouts on paper, then created refined storyboards in Illustrator to use as a basis for the video. I focused on making the motion graphics clean, engaging, and pleasing to the eye. The animation style, colors, and graphics were kept consistent throughout to ensure cohesiveness. I decided to add the motif of the car driving across a few of the scenes to create a sense of unity throughout the video.
Ignite Conference
In this project, I developed a brand identity and guidelines for a hypothetical illustration conference called Ignite. I animated several motion graphics as a part of this brand including a logo animation, an app mock-up, and a banner ad.
Logo Animation
Process
My goal was to make a visually interesting logo animation which played off of the name "Ignite" and incorporated the flame from the logo. To incorporate some realism, I recorded footage of a flame igniting and sketched out various frames to use as a reference while creating the animation in After Effects. Since energy is an important part of the Ignite brand, I made the movements snappy and fun without being overly distracting.
App Mock-Up
Process
Here I created an animated mock-up of the app that would be used for the convention. I started with static wireframes created in Illustrator, then I brought those graphics to After Effects. The loading screen incorporates the logo animation I previously made.
Banner Ad
Process
When creating this banner ad, I wanted to make sure it was eye-catching and embodied the Ignite brand identity. The animated pink line is energetic and draws in the viewer, then the register button is introduced. I added an additional animation to the button to get the viewer's attention and further incentivize them to click on the ad.
